A Biblical foundation provides a proper understanding of God's nature, human nature, and life’s perspective.
For addiction or behavioral issues, acknowledge human sinfulness and share hope of freedom through Christ’s power (Romans 8:1-14; Galatians 5:16; Ephesians 3:16-21). Encourage mind transformation (Philippians 4:8; Romans 12:2; John 17:17; 2 Corinthians 10:5).
For relationship difficulties, share Biblical wisdom on meekness (Proverbs 15:1), humility (Proverbs 13:10), and forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32).
For self-worth issues, affirm value as God’s creation (Psalm 139:14) with a calling and ability to serve Him (1 Corinthians 12:4-31).
For suffering, reassure God’s love and wisdom. Suffering may serve spiritual, eternal purposes (2 Corinthians 4:17; 1 Peter 1:7). God offers peace, joy (Galatians 5:22-23; John 16:33), and eternal life without suffering (Revelation 21:4).
A Biblical perspective equips counselors to meet needs and point to Christ for true change.
