Why Does God Allow Suffering if He Loves Us?

God doesn’t enjoy our suffering, even when it’s for personal sin (Lamentations 3:33). When suffering isn’t due to personal sin, He hates injustice and punishes oppressors (Isaiah 58).

Sometimes, suffering serves a higher purpose we don’t always understand, as seen in God’s response to Job. His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9), His wisdom perfect (Romans 11:33). His purposes are spiritual and eternal, not just physical happiness.

Despite uncertainty, focus on the hope of heaven and trust His promise to use all things for good, finding peace and joy. Some suffering is necessary, but pray and trust He’ll spare you from unnecessary suffering.

One day, all suffering will be worth it. “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory…” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).
