If you are going through a spiritual battle, don’t focus on the devil or demons. Instead, surrender to God. Let Him have 100% control in your life.
Jesus said, “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” — Matthew 10:39
If you’re holding on to any sin, let go! Even if you’re holding back innocent things and don’t want God to have full control, let go.
Take a moment to think: Is there any sin you’re holding onto? Is there anything you wouldn’t do if God calls you? Is there anything you wouldn’t give up?
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” — James 4:7–10
Don’t isolate “resist the devil and he will flee” from the other verses; submitting to God is resisting the devil! You are on one side or the other. Drawing closer to God puts you under His protection.
It doesn’t mean life will be easy physically, but you can find spiritual peace.
If your battle is unwanted or intrusive thoughts, don’t panic or worry that God will condemn you for them. Everyone is tempted outwardly; Jesus was tempted by the devil like us but wasn’t inwardly drawn to sin. Tip: Listen to music that honors God to draw closer to Him and calm your mind to ignore the thoughts.
Focus on being filled with God’s Spirit. Romans 8 promises, “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us”!
